Though respectable and charitable, most Boston Brahmins keep a low profile and stick together. Much of that glue comes from the Mayflower Club, located in a well-maintained Back Bay brownstone. The charming exterior belies the opulent Victorian interior and many of the Brahmins’ sordid deals done over tea.
Mrs. Rothsden, the club’s social coordinator, meets every guest at the front door with impeccable manners, and it’s hard to dislike her even when she gently sends you away.
